You can try hooking a battery to the lead on the pump itself and ground it to the pump housing. just a quik test to see if it is good.

hmm. i was gonna say if its intstalled, you could put the key in the "on" position, ands yode be able to hear the fuel rushing through the fuel rails.

Put it in a bucket of (fuel would be best for the pump, but probably annoyingly hazardous) liquid, power it on, see if it pumps?

Realistically, if you just want to see if it works at all, hitting it with +12v for a few seconds dry won't damage it. Just don't let it run for a long time dry.

Isn't that what I said earlier?

It runs when i hook it up to 12v but i want to make sure its actually pumping and not just humming. heres the full situatution.

My stock fp died, i replaced it with a walbro. The car started bucking and backfiring and die just hours after the walbro install. My tank was full of rust and crap, i cleaned it and put back in a stocker since I was told that the walbro was too big for my n/a and would overrun the injectors. Now I want to use the walbro on my turbo setup and dont know if it still works or the rust destroyed it. It humms when powered up.

If the pump is spinning it will practically leap off the bench when you put power to it.
