Question How can I tell if my fan clutch is bad?

I put a rebuild in my 86 RX7 and I'm still having problems with overheating. I put in a new stock Mazda thermostat, just had the radiator cleaned and flushed, and today had the whole system flushed together. I have a 16 inch electric fan w/out the shroud and for some reason I can't get it to stop overheating. So, I want to know if putting the stock fan back on would be better, but I need to know how to check the fan clutch to see if it's gone. Any ideas? -Steve

Does it overheat while in motion or just stopped?
