how can i tell if this car is a GTU-S or not?
just bought an 89 rx7 for parts, (itswrecked ) and the owner claimed it was a gtu-s model.... the car has been re-painted so the emblems are gone.. help me out guys..how can i tell if this car is a GTU-S or not? thanks

lxk is on the dot, theres also other things like checking the door jams for the tII tire size, no map pockets, if i'm not mistaken GTUs had power mirrors.

its got turbo 2 wheels, manual windows, aluminum hood, had no sunroof(until they put an aftermarket one in) power mirrors....... rear spoiler, its dark so i havnt checked the rear end.... what else guys...

Its a GTU, its not hard to swap rims, what type of turbo II rims btw S4 or S5? I know the chances of it being a GTUs have gone down from slim to none but check the diff pumpkin and see if it says something like "Use lsd fluid only" on a sticker around it. Maybe they tried to convert it.

That's not entirely true. If you call Mazda Customer Support (1-800-222-5500) and give them the VIN number, they can tell you what model it is. I did this for all of my RX-7's before I purchased them.

And a bootyfull rearend it is... wish I had the money to buy it off robert 'cause that thing is badass... LSD that bolts up to N/A stuff... I'll have to get one someday... or convert everything to TII and get a custom driveshaft or something... blah, lots of work... someone should jump on buying this!

power everything and 5spoke rims wouldn't be a GTUs. Also, there were no auto GTUs, neither was there a '91 GTUs.

yea but i have and 8613B, it has 5lug, red, says "use LSD oil only", not a moon roof but sunroof, manual locks and windows, no map pockets, 4 wheel disc with the 4piston calipers up front, so im guessing some one did some swaping or some ****. but it has blue tinted man. mirrors and the tire sticker is 205/60/R15, so i guess its not a GTUs

Ok, let me explain, the GTUs is not the only n/a with a LSD. The GTUs is the rare 'sport' style s5 car, it has TII wheels, clotch interior, manual locks/windows, electric mirrors, no sunroof (moonroofs were commonly installed afterwards), no rear-wiper, and had the 4.3LSD.
The following cars had them
89-90 GTUs
S4 GXL's
'88 GTU
