how big can i go (tires)
I'm looking to throw some bigger tires on my 88t2 i just dont know how big i can go. I've got 225/50/16 on it now and i want to go to 245/50/16 i just dont know if i've got the clearance.
(245/50/16 on back only i've got about 3/4 of an inch maybe less to my outside wheelwell)

I've noticed, that on larger wheels the sidewall numbers seem differn't, I saw some viper tires at the last autoX like 335X35X18, but the sidewall looked the same hieght and the 240x next to it had 225X45X17, anyone wanna help?

I am running 235 45 17 and 255 40? 17's on my 17x8/17x9's and the only rubbing problems I have had are with the fronts hitting the spring perches on the coilovers when they are lowered all the way down, bring them up a little and its fine. I havent gotten the car aligned yet.
The reason the aspect ratio (the middle number) of a tire changes on a larger rim/tire is because its just that, a ratio. the wider the tire, the less ratio of sidewall you need to come up with the same size sidewall.

The question is WHY you want wider tires?  Is your car actually overpowering the current tires?  Or you're looking for a "meaner" look?
The car is very balanced with 225/50/16 in all 4 corners, even with mildly modified FC's.  245/45/16 is technically the next size up - neither 235 size comes close to the stock rolling diameter.  245 on a 7" wide rim is unsafe at best.
IMO, you can't run anything larger than a 225 up front anyways.
