How to adjust idle?

90 GXL NA automatic with lots of idle problems (see other posts). Have been trying to just get a consistent idle - likes to idle smooth @ 1200 now without surging up and down or just fading out (in park/neutral only). Not sure what to set first: the throttle stop on the top front side of the TB, the screw under the red plastic cap on the top rear of TB, or to mess with BAC valve. Haven't touched the new BAC yet but played with both screws on TB for smoothest idle. Do I need to ground out the green 1 pin check connector when I play with idle. I have kept TPS set between 0.95 and 1.0 while playing. A 750 idle seems impossible. ANY load (brakes, steering, AC, putting into drive) kills engine. (BAC tests good) Compression tested 7.0 to 7.6 with 76000 mi. Putting into drive drive, gas and brakes have to be held @ 2300 rpm. IS THIS CAR JUNK? - havent made first of 48 payments yet. Thanks

Wish I had read for two weeks prior to buying the car instead of after I bought it. My daughter could of had a nice 16th birthday today. Live and learn, an RX7 was a poor choice. Thanks for your help.

not a poor choice... If you look at it this way>
If you are at all not afraid to fix things and troubleshoot things then your in luck with the RX7's ... They have zillions of fans and online material to help you in trying to fix it.. I got the same IDLE problems.. when the car warms up ..it catches an idle..but when it is cold..it won't catch one to save its life.. Maybe the Primary Injectors sticking..?

hey man, dont get yourself down. do a search for adjusting the TPS (throttle position sensor) also, i guarantee that you have a vacuum leak somewhere. i would have loved to have had an rx7 when i turned 16. if you dont know much about dealing with these things, either search like a **** (thats what i had to do) or take the car to an import shop. if you take the car to an import shop, make sure they know what rotary engines are about before you let them work on it. i'm sure that they could track down a bad idle problem easily. dont let it get ya down.
