How about these ports?

This is for a first gen, so the ports do not match our 13bs. I am posting here instead of the first gen section for my own personal reasons. The ports on here bother me. It attaches to a sidedraft carb. Notice the primaries, very wide, not long.

What is your opinion on these ports? Performance loss? Gain? The ports are wider then the gasket. Should I care?
Thank you,
Chris

I agree, grind it to match the gasket after you make sure the gasket matches the block "first". Keep in mind though that a n/a 12a relies on some port mismatch the help with reversion on the primaries. This intake may have been designed this way.

match the gasket against your stock "mazda" factory intake for port comparison.

ok, I am more concearned about the width of the ports. They go beyond the gasket, and will be wider than the blocks ports. I thought that was the unwanted porting. I will port the height.

Is the engine in the car? Consider widening the port on the iron to match

The engine is with the builder. Maybe I am just to picky. The block will be steret ported, but even my SP on my 13b are not as wide as those primaries.

Was the manifold ported with the intention of matching the gasket and block? If so then it just may be half done right now.
