houston heat is killing me, need A/C help! =(
anyone know what a fair to get an RX7 AC working without having any of the parts?? Mine doesn't have A/C at the moment and it's killing me.
What if i already had some of hte parts like Blower (is this even a part?) condensor ...how much do i expect to pay for hoses and the rest of the stuff?
i would actually ask for help on installing the A/C myself..just that in this heat i dont feel like working on my car at all =( .
According to the guy i purchased the car from the A/C parts are on my vehicle just not connected...not sure how much of that is true but i do see the A/C blower i think ( mounted in the engine bay) and some hoses...any help would be appreciated.
Also, around how much are condenser ( spl?) cores and the other pieces i would need to make my A/C work?!?
i know the manual has some pictures of the A/C and all its components i just wanted to know if there were any other pieces that were not listed there that i would need to buy?
My car : 10th aniv.
Thanks again.
ps: i did search with A/C installation and help but ended up getting nothing from them =(.

If the AC is there, and the belt is just not hooked up.... All you should have to do is put a belt on it.....
The AC COMPRESSOR is below the PS pump. Check to make sure that all the lines are hooked up to it... there is one that runs from the pump back along the firewall and over to the passenger side, and one that goes from the passenger side to the heat exchanger which is in front of the radiator, a charge tank in front of the radiator and a pipe that goes back to the compressor.
'you MAY have to do a 134a conversion if it doesn't have a charge in it.....
PS...... sissy

If the a/c is unhooked and the car is located in Houston I guarantee that something is wrong with it. Check to see if it has freon in the lines by taking off one of the caps on the a/c hardlines and poke the niddle inside real fast (like a bike tire) and see if freon comes out (not enviormently friendly and illegal just to let you know). If any parts are broken, I have an almost complete a/c system off my vert that I'd sell you a part from *if you needed it.

this car came from dallas..not sure if it's like houston at all. It was disconnected before i purchased the car which probably means it has no freon at all. i guess i know where my loan money will go to =(.

I am willing to bet that it has no freon. Also, your compressor is prob siezed. RX7.com used to have new sanden compressors for about 200 (less than half of what mazda wants) but I havent checked lately. Also, my brother-in-law, who is has the r-12 certification (whatever you call it), told me that once the system is opened you have to replace the evaporator. Anyway, post how things go, I'm in the same boat as you. When I bought my car the the clutch on the compressor was siezed because he took the belt off because it was a track car only, and I'm looking to the a/c running again.

Don't buy hoses and stuff until you determine the fellow who wants to sell it to you has the same type compressor. Either Sanden or Nippendenso. The hoses are different therefore not interchangable.
Buy a NEW Drier. The condensor and evaporator should be fine.
I wrote this becase you said you had no hose/hoses.
If given a choice, I'd go Nippendenso.

I can't believe the heat is killing you unless you have a certified allergy to heat?
Got a doctor's note?
I've driven in 110F degree Sacramento summers.
I've driven in 120F degree Vegas summers.
I'm still alive. :P

What happened to that threads that went something like "Before summer bazillion questions for your AC" thread?
Seriously, I think A/C is overrated.
We never used to have it in our family cars when I was young, so it was never a big deal for me.
I found the stock FC A/C system to be a royal pain in the ***.
It caused the car to run hotter, rather than cooler like most other cars. :P

Haha, I can't live without the A/C in my WRX, but then again I'm from Michigan where it's only above 65 for a month. Yeah, we need to bump Jrat's thread every once in awhile.

Hey... little late but saw this. How are you doin? How's the 10th running?
Marvel speed did all of the ac work and it worked fine for about 4 days. The lines have leaks in them or something. He was gonna do a dye test and look at it w/ a black light to see where the leak was but you said you didn't care about it... :p Texas = must for AC
Srry I'm late but atleast it's getting cool now.
I got bit by the 7 bug again and am lookin for a small daily/drift car now.
