hot wire from battery to fire wall

My 88 has a red #12 wire running from the plus side of the battery to the lower right hand side of the fire wall. this was on the vehicle when I bought it. I believe that it is going to the the computer. The car runs fine but if I don't drive it for a week the battery is dead. This leads me to believe that the computer is hot all the time from the wire to the pos. terminal. Has anyone had an experience with this type of set up?

If it's a 12 gauge wire, you should be able to trace it pretty easily.. . the other easy option is to unplug it and see what happens

Other than that, I've never heard of a setup like that

Just a thought, I am by no means an RX-7 guru, but the 88 vert I just bought to restore also has a red wire with an inline fuse running from the battery to the fire wall. Seems the PO installed an aftermarket power booster/amp for the sound system. The fuse was pulled when I bought it......after replacing the fuse I found it drained my battery real quick. Again, just a thought.

I go with the aftermarket device. Sorry, we on this forum cannot bother to pull YOUR carpet up to find out where the wire terminates. We're all tooooooo lazy.

OK, thanks to all for the feed back. I will disconnect the wire and see what happens.
