horsepower gains

i have an 88 na and was wondering what things could i do to the engine to gain more horsepower and throttle response. car has next to no torque in high rmps in gears 1,2 and kind of 3rd. so i have poor acceleration and couldn't get out of my own way. i have an intake system on it but it isnt enough. i am looking into street porting the engine but it was recently rebuilt. so that needs to wait. any ideas? suggestions?

read through the "how to build a beefy n/a" thread in the archive. but you also may need a tuneup.

^^ Anything more than that is going to require sacrificing a lot of money, reliability, and streetability. If that's not enough power, save up for a turbo. arghx gave the best advice though... this has been covered many times.

If its recently rebuilt, turbo the 6 port engine. Japan2la has lims to adapt your block to the t2 manifolds. Doesnt make any sense not to do this.
