Horsepower?

How much HP does the RX7 1988 TURBO II produce and it stock max boost? I am looking at a T4 upgrade w/intercooler and was told it would bring HP to around 325 - DOES THAT SEEM ACCURATE?

1st, PLease read the "FAQ for FCs" at the top of this forum. It will help answer most questions you may have.

2nd, stock HP on an 88Turbo2 is 182 , at 5.5 PSI

3rd, there are SO many more variables that need to be taken into consideration on the turbo upgrade, that it would be nearly impossible to estimate a HP number withouth knowing most of them. Wil you be running aftermarket EMS, what about fuel (need larger pump, injectors, etc) What intercooler will you be using, how much boost, etc...

OKAY. MY MODEL IS THE 10TH ANNIVER. EDITION 1988 RX7 TURBO II. DOES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN HORSEPOWER? ALSO, STOCK ONLY PRODUCES 5 PSI? PATHETIC. IN ANY EVENT, WHAT IS THE MAX BOOST IT CAN HANDLE?

Look on the left side of your keyboard...you will see a key that says "caps lock" This is what is making all of your letters large. Please turn it off..

No, the 10th AE doesnt have any more power than a regular Turbo2, just a little more weight

Why is that boost level pathetic? The point is to make as much HP with the least boost as possible. Too much boost is NOT a good thing.

Anyway, 10 PSI is about as far as you will want to go without looking into fuel upgrades. A larger pump should be the 1st thing on your list before even starting to mod. The stock turbo really shouldnt be pushed past 12PSI.

I see. Cool. I had it backwards with PSI. I heard to get a bigger fuel pump. I guess my car comes with 550cc injector stock and are running at 60%??? A bigger pump will increase power? I also wanted to get a pulley kit and intake + the T4. They guy who is selling me the T4 claims it will increase HP to 325??? Is that a bunch of bull?

I dont know the specs of a T4 off hand, so someone else would be better off to answer that question. But..with a decent aftermarket turbo setup, 325HP is fully within the realm of possibility. People have close to that with the stock turbo. The larger pump wont give you more HP really, but let you run more boost. If you run too much boost with the stock pump, it will not be able to keep up fuel with the increased air coming in, which will make the car run lean. Engine go boom..

rxmfn7...
ok... you may be a really nice guy and i may be a total *******, but i don't know why you're babysitting this guy. i think he's totally taking you for granted. let him do some searches himself and learn a little more about cars in general, let alone rx7's.

sorry jtm7878... just needed to let it out.
you're too lazy, gotta work for it man.
you were too lazy to even trun your caps lock off.. geeze...

I've done searches and found it helpful. I just think when you get to a specific area such as HP gains - You gotta ask the questions. I am not taken anyone here for granted and appreciate the help. Like I said, I just got the car and want to do things right. I'm new to the rotary and know its potential. So, thanks for the help and I will continue searching.

I will not stop until I get this whip in shape! Times I think I should have kept my ECLIPSE GST, but I remember that dam RX7 fading in the distance... Its why I bought one!

I've mad no mods other than removing the cats completely. My next move is to add a t4 turbo and a bigger fuel pump. But right now I am still trying to figure out whether or not its okay to leave the dam MOP on and pre-miz or remove it??? I'm told the pump is dead...

if you want to make serious power "SAFELY" here is the recipe,
engine rebuild with a good street port,
T04(type) turbo
Good FMIC,
Larger secondarie injectors,
255L/H fuel pump,
some sort of way to tune you fuel and preferably ingition,
you will also most likely need a new clutch to hold the power,
you will also need a good Aftermarket BOV
properly tunned and setup with the proper parts you could produce arround 350-400rwhp whith the things above and TUNNING I stress to get it properly TUNNED!
Good Luck

P.S. had you searched properly I have posted pretty much this very same post most likely about 5 times in the past week!

I did not need to search after all. Everything you name is exactly what I am doing, all but the rebuilt. She only has 86K original well cared for miles. It was a 1 owner female. The t4, fuel pump, BOV, pulley kit and intake are all going in. I was looking for more details besides the obvious.
