I got a 1988 RX7 SE, and I was wondering how much horsepower it has. It has nothing on it yet. Also, what type of gas should I put on it. Also am I soppose to let my car warm up right before driving it. And does anybody know where I could go to get the back taillights to 3rd generation RX7

-146 hp at the flywheel.
-87 octane unleaded gasoline.
-let it warm up a little, and lay off WOT and high rpms until it is at operating temp.
-3rd gen lights will not fit. Series 5 lights are available every now and again for around $200 a set.

I forgot to to mention. My dad works with fiberglass, and we have a 3rd genertion rx7 which we are planning to put on my car. The whole entire car will be fiberglass except the top and the frame. But I cant do **** without buying the backlights.

GOOD GOD that is an immense project you are taking on. You realise how big that is? He'd better have a LOT of automotive experience. If he just works with fiberglass, don't even attempt this project. Seever body structure would be compromised.

My dad is a fiberglass genious. He has his own shop and does custome work. He has already put a 3rd generation kit on a 1st genration. Thats where I got my idea. I wont be compromising the body structure, because the frame will still be intact, only the panels will be done in fiberglass so there aint gonna be no structure problems. But do you know where I could get the lights

The farme is not the only part of the car which offers support. The entire car offers ridgity to the chassis. I hope you plan on installing a complete roll cage and keeping the firewall intact.
Try thepartstrader.com under mazda rotary for your lights, and the "parts for sale" section at the bottom of this forum.
If all else fails, expect huge prices at the dealership. BTW, you would need fornt head lamp assemblies as well.
Really, I would like to see some pics of this 1st gen to 3rd gen before I see this project as even a remotely conceivable project. But is it is true, then more power to you.

Sorry, but this sounds like another high school fantasy project. Most cars made in the last 30-40 years, including the RX-7, use a monocoque chassis. The entire body is a stressed unit. You cannot separate the upper body from the floor pan (which supports the driveline and suspension). The only non-structural, bolt-on "panels" that can be replaced with fibreglass are the bonnet, front guards, doors, bumpers and boot. Note that doesn't include the area where the tail lights are! Replacing any more than that would necessitate a full tube chassis! or a chassis based around a carbon fibre tub. You're talking stupid amounts of money and labour. I too would like to see this 1st Gen your father has done. I suspect you are not telling us the full story...
