Hooking up my monster Tach.

Okay okay...I know my car is not running. Well, I have a 5 inch tach with a shift light...I want to hook it up to my Rex...I know I am going to get that car running again...I NEED TO! Anyway, my stock tach doesn't work...why? I dunno...but, could I hook my tach up to it?! I want to know...

Maybe figuring out why the stock tach doesn't work (it does, after all, get it's signal from the trailing coils) will fix the rest of your problems....

STop giving the kid such a hard time, The leading and trailing coils both have a female connector tht seems to be there for nothing, thats the one you have to plug into to get rpm signal.

most people go into the trailing coils, but looks like yours are out of commission

You already have a huge tach with a loud shift buzzer. Why would you want to bolt a big ugly tach to your dash?

The stock tach gets its signal from the trailing coils. The two most common causes of tach failure are inoperative trailing coils or dirty contacts on the back of the tach itself.

Interesting... Okay...tonight when I go home I will take a peak...I doubt it is the Coils...since the car was running and all. Unless...Maybe it is the coils...damn.

Most of the ignition work is done by the leadings plugs. If the trailing plugs aren't firing you won't necessarily notice it. Because the very last part of the mixture isn't burnt properly, power will be down only very slightly, and fuel consumption and emissions will be slightly higher.
