Hood release and starter?

Is there a sensor to keep the ignition from engaging the stater if the hood release is partially pulled or not closed all the way?

I know of the clutch switch. Are there others that would keep the car from starting?

anti theft system. i had a problem with this recently.

if you look at the ignition switch, there are 5 points. 3 big ones and one small one. i wish i had a picture. one big connector has two little ones right next to it. its the smallest connector on the bottom. use a multi meter to test this.

anyways, there is a black and red wire coming out of that (one of the smaller connections on the ignition switch)
goes down to a connector under the dash. its like 5 inches from the ignition switch and is on a connector all by itself. this then goes into the clutch switch and anti theft module(correct me if im wrong) and then onto another connector under the coil packs. this then runs down to the starter.

to test this out, take a multi meter, and hook it to the first connection under the dash. test to see if you get 12v when trying to crank the engine. do the same for the connector under the coil pack(the ones closer to the firewall(you may need to take them out)) but remember to press the clutch(if you needed to to start the car before). then finally at the starter. its a lil black connector with a black and red wire coming out. if you dont get voltage, then you know where to bypass.

what i did was bypass the clutch and anti theft module, so i just ran a wire to the connector under the dash, then ran a wire to the one under the coil. easy. now no anti theft BS and no having to press the clutch to start the car.

Couldn't you just unplud the antitheft ecu? The black box located on the drivers side left footwell. It has 3 plugs with the bigger plug being in the middle. Unplug that and see if it starts.

Icemark would know for sure if that would work.

no. mazda used a dummy connector to bypass this. its just a connector with one wire looping back into itself. this is hows its bypassed.
