Honda guy converting... GTu-s ?

Yes i am a honda guy getting ready for the cross-over and i have a few questions. please dont flame on my hatch.

1. GTu-s. how light are they? how light can u get them down to? 2200?

2. what is need for TII motor in GTu-s? the car already has the TII tranny.

3. How much are the circle taillights worth? (the ones on the convertable)

4. At what power/boost level do you need to swap out the stock TII injectors? What "cc" are they?

5. At what boost level is the stock TII turbine efficient to?

6. Can i reach 250rwhp with stock turbo?

thanx.

1) I think its next to impossible to get down to 2200 lbs without totally gutting the car. 88IntegraLS has one of the lightest FCs around, at 2420lbs.
2) Search, but if youre planning on converting a GTUs, please reconsider. They are rare.
3) the circle tail lights are standard S5 tail lights. They go from anywhere from $100-300 on ebay.
4) only need to swap injectors when they reach a high duty cycle, and are no longer efficient. Theyre 550cc i believe
5) ive heard people say that its no longer efficient over 14 psi, 12 psi, and some people say they boost to 17 or 18 psi on the stock turbo.
6) yes.

search and you will find detailed answers to every question you asked.

1. Not sure
2. Tii motor, tii ecu, tII tranny (no the GTU's doesnt have a tII tranny), turbo II hood unless you go front mount, TII rear end, im just gonna stop there you can look at the FAQ or search for the rest for a TII swap.
3. Roughly 150-200
4. Stock are 550cc i believe, its always a good idea to upgrade your injectors when upping your boost.
4. I think its efficient up to 14psi but dont quote me on that.
6. Yes

what i meant was the car already has a turbo 2 hood, tranny, and rear end. the car has no motor so i might as well go turbo b/c the car is a big bloated pig.

:: Youre calling a gtu's a big bloated pig???? Man check the weight on a vert Anyways if it already has those things put on it, then all youll need is the same series motor from the car only turbo and the same series turbo ecu, a boost sensor, and the turbo II MAF from the same series.

LOL, yes, the car is heavy because it has the heavy TII drivetrain attached to the heavy 89-92 body.

Anyway, to answer your questions that haven't been answered up to this point:

They are around 2800lbs. Getting it down to 2200lbs depends on what you want to remove. If you are looking for a light 2Gen RX-7, the 86-88 cars were nearly 200lbs lighter. My recommendation is the 86-87 Sport or 88 GTU for non-turbo cars, or to just get a TII if you want a turbocharged engine. If you are just going to strip the heck out of the car, then any 86-88 model will work just fine.

The "need" is only there if you want a turbocharged engine.

The stock injectors are 458cc/min @ 40psi for the non-turbo engines, 550cc/min @ 40psi for the TII. See the next reply for changing out injectors...

Not stock it doesn't. The GTUs comes stock with the standard M-type tranny with a 'vert 5th gear.

I think that he means the car is a Frankenseven GTUs roller with a TII hood and transmission but no engine.

You'd be surprised at the mis-infomation out there and the number of mid-west RX-7 chapters that claim it came with the Turbo tranny.

Just making sure.

I know what you mean, but it's not limited to the mid-west. I've heard the "it's the TurboII without the turbo" BS for over a decade now.

If I remember correctly, the round tail lights from the convertible are not the same fit as the ones from the regular coupe.

Doesn't sound like any drifter i know. Most drifters I know would be more worried about supension than horsepower when building a new car.

I think it's high time you reconsiderd where the money for that TII engine is going. Or do you already have this covered.

Your going to hurt yourself with all that power and no supension to back it up.

Tein HE
Cusco camber plates
Sus Tech Sway bars
Tanabe Front brace

i already ordered the Tanabe brace. i am waintg for my Tein hoo-up to get me a price. he is a wuthorized dealer of Tein and hell sell them to me at his cost. it will be under $1k tho.

Nice you see you have your priorities streight. I just post as a concerned memeber of the slideways community. Glad you have the stuff you need/want. Be safe.
