HOLY LORD.. pics... What happened?
My 88 NA is having an 2 issues..
1)in the past it was just a bit of creamy cream on the dipstick and oil cap.. ( water/ condensation yes?) the pics show... well look:
Any ideas... ? I get ZERO smoke at any given time... Cold start is a bitch.. x3 10 second cranks, but then fires up, idles high then goes to bounce till warm.. then idles strong.
Heres my "setup"
stock NA motor.. a zillion miles ( almost 150k) runs pretty strong tho
royal purple 10-40 oil
rb header, stock cat or straight pipe depending on the week) aftermkt 2" cat back,
Chopped rats nest
full block off of EGR, BAC and ACV ( still have thermal wax)
round cone intake ( no stock box)
SAFC2/ wideband...
So not much...
#2... on the "back side" of the bouncy idle, or any time the revs are dropping in the 1-3K range, theres a nasty vibration/shudder... Its been getting worse over the last 3 weeks... First i checked motor mounts, they were both split into 3 peices, LOL.. i replaced those with new, but the vibration was still in full effect. I got under the car and saw the cat moving quite a bit, thot maybe it was blocked so i replaced with a spare, then my straight pipe, no help. So im lost... Something in the tranny? fly wheel/ clutch? BTW, this noise occurs 100% of the time ( at above rpm range) the clutch can be in or out, in gear or neutral, moving or standing still...
Is my engine just done for? perhaps internal coolant leak... ?
thanks for reading my ramble.

its fine.. dont worry about it jus clean it up and then check it again in 2 weeks... this is usually from the ambient water forming around it after high heat of ehaustion. its perfectrly fine. My Rx8 is worse then that lol so you should be fine.

Its not every two weeks for me.. id say its a a few months build up... But good to know.. its either no big deal or a VeRY big deal ( blown coolant seal) What other symptoms would i look for other than what has been mentioned ( if it was the coolant seal?)
Any advice on my shudder/sound anyone? after driving the car just now... it seems that the straight pipe may have quieted it down some... maybe better airflow helped a bit? if it was a wierd vac/idle issue.... It also seems like the shudder is worse when just starting vs. when its nice and hot.

If you had a blown coolant seal I think you would have a problem with water temp... I would not be tooooooooo concerned about this right now...
My suggestion... Go get yourself another old cap and drill a hole in the top and insert a hose running to an empty coke bottle mounted somewhere on the fender... ... Its only temp ... Lets see what kind of crank case pressure your building. over the course of a week you should collect some oil...exc... That nasty green mix should go away... Your basically venting the crank case...

You should see the LIM on my blown TII. The water passage was COMPLETELY blocked by that stuff, and it hardened into like cement. It's like white-ish. I'll have to get a picture sometime, it's ridiculous.

Icemark.... PVC.. heres a dumb question... where is that? or better yet, would i know it by a different name? I have removed the rats nest, acv, egr and BAC....
My TPS is adjusted great as far i can tell... reading with a DMM, its 1.00 closed, no spikes or dead spots up to about 4.55 IIRC...
The "tranny mount" is a custom job from my 5 speed swap. So its pretty much welded solid, again IIRC... but good idea, illl see if i still have the big bushing next time im under there.
can anyone elaborate on these:
plugged crankcase ventilation test
presurized test on the cooling system
The car runs great.... once its fired up, like i said, 3 long cranks to start it, revs at 1300 then bounces till warm, then settles down at 8-900 ish and runs strong.

The valve comes off the oil tube (in fact you can see one of the hoses for it in your first picture)... it is the flying saucer shaped plastic valve that has three lines coming off it. One goes to the intake, just after the throttle body butterflys, one goes to a different spot on the intake just after the throttle body butterflys, and one goes to that hose.
By that you don't seem, to have anything on the hose in that first picture, I am 99% sure whoever removed the smog equipment removed this valve (which gee- its whole purpose in life is to prevent that build up- as well as get rid of the gas leaked past the seals into the oil).
