hmmmm short circuit
ok, so I've been able to do most of the work on the 7 myself. This forum is tops for that.
so maybe you can help me with this one....
I didn't drive the car for 3 or 4 days.
I get in to start it up this morning, and it wouldn't turn over.
Well it gave one half hearted try, then clik clik clik.
CRAP
dead battery I guess.
(good thing I had to truck to get to work on time)
so I'm wondering if anyone here has any advice on finding the short.
(and no = don't telll me I need all new switches and harness)
any advice?
I have a multi-meter and know how to use it,
I guess it's just start testing from the front and head to the back????
yeah, I need help.......

Few things Mordachai..sometime you can leave the key in the wrong position and you can take the key out before the Switch is in the actual Remove key spot..(the clock stays on and runs the battery down)..another thing to try is to clean your battery terminals..and also just see if the car will start in another position on the shifter(example shift to Neutral..Instead of Clutch in,and shifter in First..then try starting)..you can try "process of elimination".. putting the meter on the battery connections (if you find it drawing current, when car is off)..and start pullin fuses one by one .you may find one circuit faulty ..all I can offer to ya ..off the bat..someone else will chime in with other stuff though..Good luck to ya...

Happened to me, turned out I had a bad battery & alternator. What is your battery voltage? There is a cutoff voltage where your battery will not supply power to your starter. I believe it is about 10V. If you wanna see where all your wires are go here:

Connect an ammeter in series with the battery and set it to the highest range. Start pulling fuses until the current draw stops. That circuit is your problem. Now head to the factory service manual and find out everything that fuse is connected to.
Common problems are failed alternator regulators (this one has got me in the past) and headlights that aren't all the way down.

Cool thanks for the good replies guys. This weekend I'll pull fuses and see what happens.
It's a brand new battery, about 4-5 months. The alternator was replaced a while ago.
It funny cause I stopped driving it as a dd, to fix a few things. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me......
