hmmm 2000 miata vs '86 na?

So my dad has his "cute" little miata that he's always bragging about... what I'm wondering is how would my 86 na stack up against it? The miata is completley stock, while my 86 is in good running condition and has a bonez high flow cat and so many exaust leaks that it has to be high flowing So who has the quicker car? Im wondring both 1/4 mile kinda figures and rolling starts from 50 mph or so... thanks

I think it would be a pretty close race in a straight line, it might depend on the driver. If it was on a road with a lot of tight curves he would kick your *** (assuming he's a good driver)

You would have to be making around 170hp at the flywheel to equal his power to weight ratio. A leaky exhaust isn't helping you btw.

Wouldn't the readings from the G-tech kinda tell you. Especially for the 1/4 mile. If i remember the readings right, i think you beat him there. Hehehehe Oh well. Do you think he would ever race you on the highway?

Yeah, thats the other factor... he drives like an old man Not to offend anyone, but... He lets out the clutch r e a l slow, i'd have like 5 cars on him in 1st gear. In a straight line i think i could take him. What i was really curious about is some highway racing, what do ya think bout that?

On the highway, you'll almost certainly have more kick (without having to gear down). I found that most Miatas could not keep up with my 82 RX7 on the highway... it clearly pulled stronger in 4th gear.
