Hmm.. Engine running kinda hot?

Hey guys, I put some 20W50 Royal Purple oil in my 86 N/A and now the tempurature starts to fluxuate more. It used to be at about a little above 1/3 from the "C" level and now it fluxuates from 1/3 from "C" to a little less than 1/2 from "C"

Should I be worried? Is it because its summer here in cali and the temp is 90-100 degrees? should i clean my oil cooler? thanks for helpin out!

I don't think a oil cooler can really get dirty but it certainly can't hurt

I would say 1/3 is about right if you drive it for semi long periods of time in 100 degree weather

?ever seen a 7 with a bit of oil seepage at the banjo fittings? I guess not.

I was experiencing cooling issues with my N/A beater on the track at speed......and the fix was cleaning the thick dirt/oil crap out of the oil cooler....

Although with that said there are bigger players in the role of cooling then the tidiness of your oil cooler.

But by the sounds of your symptoms your fine. Just keep an eye on your temps, maybe consider a thermostat in the near future and one day a rad upgrade.

When I replaced my oil cooler lines recently I noticed my oil cooler was real dirty near the banjo fittings. About 1/4 of my oil cooler was clogged with dirty oil.

I have seen oil coolers packed with dirt. Clean it out and straighten all the fins.
It is very unlikely that using royal purple oil has changed your engine temps. Your cooling system is designed to operate at the right temperature. and if it varies it is more likely a component of your cooling system, not oil.
