HKS T04E Kit???

I purchased a 1990 Mazda RX7 Turbo II about 4 months ago. I bought it off of a guy in Kelowna, B.C., Canada for $1500 CDN. I figured no matter what the problem with the car was i would take it for that little.

So I got the car and I have discovered it has all 3 apex seals on the rear rotor blown. Also it looks like the coolant o ring is gone ca-put as well.

I removed the engine and rebuilt it over the 4 months. I finally have the engine back together. But during that process I discovered the turbo was garbage.

So I was wanting to upgrade the turbo. I was wondering if the HKS TO4E kit was a good kit. Does anyone here run it? What kind of boost will the turbo take? What kind of max power can be had with this kit?

I plan on upgrading the IC, and quite a few other parts to handle the extra power.

I ask these questions because this car will be taken to the track often as well as drag strip.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's a T04E-57, if I remember correctly. This turbo will do 300hp pretty easily, but getting anything more is hard.

Rebuilding it will only cost you a T04 rebuild kit, which is like $150.

If you want just 300hp, the turbo is fine. If you want more, look elsewhere.

What kit would you recomend. Id like to be able to put 400-450RWHP, while still being able to push it if i have to. So max around 500RWHP with some monster boost.

What kind of kit should i look at. Or shuld i build my own kit? What turbo should i start as a base of my kit? What will suport 400RWHP relitivly easily?

Wow, how much you got burning in your wallet?

A 60-1 or TS04/T04S would give you 400hp relatively easy. If you're serious about 500hp, then we're talking T66 size.

To support these power levels would require lots of fuel and engine mods to run the kinda power efficienctly. This would almost require a stand-alone ECU to complement the tuning.

O Money is not relly an issue at this point. I have a large budget for this car at the moment. As long as it goes to plan and i dont have to get a new motor right away.

So T66 by who? What are the good stand alone systems for FC's? And what kind of fuel mods would you recomend?

I will uprade injectors, dual pumps, high flow filter. But what else?

Im sorry if i sound like a newbee, but i just got the car all back together and cant wait to have her running Ive been stuck driving my bone stock FD for the past year and a half. Dont get me wrong its one beautiful car, but i love the FC's lines. Such a great car.

Thanks again

Thanks a bunch, thats just the info i was looking for.

So far i have found the FC board to be much more helpful than the Fd board.

All the FD bord is talking about right now is how 16 year old kids shouldent drive FD's.

Thanks again

did you port your engine when you rebuilt it? if not you are going to have a hard time reaching 400hp anyways.

I love my FD as well but deffinetly not for its reliability. Its true that when you have something you always want something else. That is true for me.

I have my FD and i love her to deth, but i live in Vancouver and its winter so she is off the road till spring. So i want to get my TII running so that in the spring i can go and have a little fun.

As for porting, yes i had it ported. An agressive street port. It should sufice for what im looking to do to the car. Well thats what the guys told me anyway
