HKS SSQV, Knock off or legit

Many other Forum members have a better eye for this kind of thing than I do. It seems pretty obvious, but that might be because the seller is doing a damn good job making their representation. Most noted, their asking price of under $40 just seems too wonderful. I know there are subtle things that confirm if it's fake, so lets hear from you experts.

So, fake or legit?

the fact thats its under $40 is a red flag immediatley. and i think ive heard the real ones have the "holographic" logo? i owned a real one for my supra but it came as a kit with the pipe so i never got just the blow off/packaging so i cant tell by that.

It's fake hozz. I got hosed a few months back buying two for 120 bucks a pop....The dead give away in the new fakes are the "c clip", The only C clip HKS sells is beveled, where as teh one in that kit is completely flat. Also you can tell on the bottom of the BOV it stupposed to be stamped with its own individual number, Take that number and type it in on google and see if theres 10 jillion of the same thing for sale.

Also I think the plastic vacuum T's that HKS provides actually have HKS molded into them. Also the real ones don't include that adapter piece.

From my experience, if you don't buy it from a Hks authorized dealer, they are almost always fakes.

if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is a fake, also check out the sellers to see if they're an authorized reseller of the products. when you just about buy anything off of ebay you're just buying ebay (insert brand name) style (insert product type)

I do not have any direct experience with fakes, but the biggest thing that would scare me about a counterfeit is this. I read that some knock offs do not snap shut fast enough and you can suck debris in to your intake. Might be true, might not...but I'd rather not take a chance.

I bought one of those and they're absolute ****. It worked... twice. After that, it just didn't even blow off. Yes, I got it from an ebay seller for right around $40. It looked legit, and came from a seller who looked like a guy just trying to unload what he didn't need any more. There are even reviews if you do a google search that will tell you that for the most part (like most china ****) they're hit or miss, and that they're really damn hard to distinguish between it and the real thing. I'm not sure about the serial number, but if it's supposed to be it's own special number, all I can say is that I have the same one
