If you don't decide to use the HKS filter, I might be interested in purchasing it from you.

sorry. a tad bitter tonight. by K&N do you mean the drop in filter or the cone filter with the afm adapter? if your debating whether or not to use the HKS cone/foam style filter or a drop in K&N, go with the HKS. if your already using a K&N, i wouldnt bother.

I think the HKS does a much better job of filtering the air than the HKS, the HKS in my opinion looks like a totally piece of **** in comparison tho.. But sometimes looks aren't everything. Less dirt in the engine the longer it will last.

speaking of K&N filters, anyone know if this will work/fit ok. RU-4960. trying to piece an intake together but not sure about the dimensions (fitment). all i have is an ss afm adapter i picked up at kragen with a 2.75 opening. what are the dimensions of the cones you guys are using if its k&n. i couldn't find any relative dimensions anyone was using.

just get the cork sport filter. it doesnt filter that much ( yeas it does actually ) but it flows pretty damn good. and to clean it i throw it in my washing machine. beware oif filter elements where you have to oil because the oil could clog the afm and your car wont run and if it does run, it will run like pure ****.

I installed a K&N (#RX-4950) directly to the AFM on my 89 GTU and made a heat shield from aluminum. I have heard about oil type air filter clogging the AFM but I don’t think would happen if it is oiled properly. I have used this setup for almost a year and have not had a problem.

Hm, that shinned some light on it. I'll probably go with a K&N filter.

FYI that "test" is a bogus infomercial.

That may be true if you buy a cheap filter on Ebay and douse it with 20w50, but a quality brand filter like K&N will not harm the AFM.

I had the HKS kit on my TII, and I didn't like it quite as much as the K&N filters. The HKS filters got dirty pretty fast, and then needed to be replaced about every 10,000 miles. The K&N filters last 10 years or 1,000,000 miles, and only need servicing about every 50,000 miles.

Get the K&N filter, it actually does what it says and filters air. The HKS filter is some weird sort of porous fibrous web that gets dirty fast and has to be replaced.

hey guys, been trying to get a k&n (RU-4960) and with no luck. i tried all the shops in town too. pepboys, autozone, kragen, and a independent shop (contagious). none seem to have or be able to get me one. contagious had something called a tenzoR one. told me its a knock of something but it all work the same. so where do you guys get them from? online? i checked k&N's website and they said those shops above carry their products. was i just talking to a lazy person? i just called the local reibes...hopefully he can get me one. i thought it'd be easier then this.

AutoZone should be able to order it. Also, you could get it online. Summit carries it:

ok, had some luck with reibes. he can get me one by this weekend from their LA werehouse. nice fella too.

u think it was because i was asian, said aftermarket cone filter, said my car was a mazda, he saw my car and it was fugly-colored, with a loud exhaust (i don't think so though-sounds nice). i just called the reibes bud.
j/k!

i have the Bonez Filter it made with a K&N element and i love it, for some reason it really change the way my car sounds, not that that was the purpose but still its weird, what suck is my car kinda sound like a lawnmower right now with the bonez intake and high flo cat and presilencer, then i've got stock catbacks that are rusted and ziptied on right now ^#$%^
