Hitachi HT18S rebuild

I took my turbo to a shop today and they told me that there are no rebuild kits for the stock T2 turbo. Is this true, or did they not look hard enough?

I am faced with buying a new stocker from them for ~$650 US.

The hybrid I see all over the net sounds interesting, except that my fuel system is stock and it would probably melt my motor!

I currently have full exhaust and FCD.

I guess my question is:
What would Brian Boitano do?

why buy a stock turbo for 650 bucks when you can get one of the BNR hybrids for like 500 and make like 350 at the wheels.
blasphemy.

Questions:

I assume I'd have to run it at low boost, since I have stock fuel. Does it come with a wastegate? What is the wastegate set at?

Do these guys have a website?

Well. He ports the hell out of the wastegate before he sends it back to you first off(contact him to see what exactly he does). Second, you can keep the stock intake on to keep boost down until you get the proper fuel mods(walbro pump, s-afc, 720cc secondaries at least).

You can find a good stock turbo here for under $200. I bought a really good one for $80. Shops have to make money somehow, just make sure it's not your butt they are ripping a new hole in.

it has the stock hotside with a stock (but ported) wastegate. it just has a bigger compressor and if you get the stage 3 one it has a whole t04 compressor housing and wheel (prior two stages just have the wheel i believe)
