Hit Starter With Hammer - Killed Entire Electrical System
So I went to take my car for a spin around the block and try out a new e6k map. The starter wouldn't engage. On my last couple FCs it took a few turns to get it to want to turn over. Today... nothing. Probably turned the key 50 times. So my buddy tells me the starter just needs to be whacked with a hammer. So he taps and I wait to see what happens. Four taps later and my idiot gauge and cabin lights went out. WTF? It didn't blow a single fuse and I checked the under hood fuses with a meter. I disconnected the starter power wire. Cleaned the battery terminals then tested it. Nothing still would work. My Haltech is also directly wired to the battery and it wouldn't turn on via toggle switch. I'm at a total loss.
I just put a battery jumper on it and the cabin lights still wouldn't come on. No brake lights, no horn, nothing...

I cleaned them. I even pulled the battery ground of the chassis and sanded as much paint off around the bolt as I could. The last thing I'm going to do today is buy a new battery. I noticed if I slapped the neg wire on the terminal it wont spark at all.
do you have any voltage off of your battery? The reason that I ask is just because you don't get a spark from the negative doesn't mean that you didn't break your positive wire......

Everyone hold on. It can't 'have' to be anyone thing. He didn't give enough detail for anyone who hasn't seen the car to know for sure what happened.
First, did you un hook your battery from everything and voltage test it? When ever you have a problem with your car not getting any juice always check your battery first. Its an easy check and coudl save you a ton of time, and save you the cost of a new battery if it isnt you problem.
Also get your multimeter and check all the ground wires you can find.
Then let us know what you found.

craziest chemical reaction? I cleaned my negative battery ground to chassis before I tried messing with the starter. You'd never guess what it did. After I'd given up hope I tapped my haltech ground accidentally to the battery and everything came back on. So I checked my original (that I had just cleaned an hour ago) it was rusted to the frame!!
