High temp rubber return line

This may sound like a dumb idea but I didn't think of it. The previous owner of my hybrid said to modify the stock return line with a section of high temp rubber hose and clamp it to be able to clear the larger coldside. The stock line doesn't fit properly because the angle it is on makes it hit on the cold side just enough to put the flange off. Now is it just me or does placing a rubber hose on a turbo line directly beside an exhaust manifold sound like a stupid idea? Is there rubber hose out there that can actually withstand this heat? If not, wheres a good source to order the appropriate flanges on the turbo and front cover and an fittings to make a braided line?

I picked up some rubber hose at a hydraulics shop for free, guy said it is military grade and good for high temp applications. To see how much heat it could stand I heated up a screwdriver red hot and pressed it on the hose. Barely made a mark on it, so if it can stand up to a red hot screwdriver it should hold up against the exhaust mani temperatures right?

Sure. Try it out...

I used RTV on my leaky return line flange, so far so good...

Good luck!
