Why would the clutch cause you to lose power at 5K?
If you can lug it around at lower speeds in 4th and 5th gear without it slipping, it's probably not your clutch.
Go back to the basics, fuel, air, spark. Is your timing set right? Are you getting spark on all 4 plugs? Change the plugs.. Are you getting good fuel pressure. Check for vacuum leaks.

ahh. I dont like the sound of all that. What i think it might be is the guy i bought it from adjusted the wastegate and it has more than stock boost. Could it be that the fuel cut comes on? Its at about 8 psi.

my n/a's doin the same thing- when floored, 4th gear, about 6500 rpm's it acts like the fuel or spark is cutting out just a little (stock fuel & ign sys, hi-flow cat)...could have somethin to do with the 180,000 miles on the injectors?
