High Mileage Oil??

High Mileage Oil??

Hi, I am not sure which oil to use. I keep hearing different things. 10w 30,
10w 40, 20w 50??? Which is best for the rotary engine, I have about 126,000 miles on it. Would you recommend the "High Mileage Oil". Just looking for the best oil to use. Thanks

i use castrol gtx 20w50. I think like 10w30 is for colder climates, like Canada.

Ive always used Castrol GTX 20W50 also.

The way I look at it is like this...when its a warmer climate, use thicker oil, as oil thins as it's heated. If the climate is colder, use thinner oil, as it will not thin out as much.

Thats how I always thought about it, but maybe my thinking is completely flawed! LoL. I dont know. That's why Ive always used 20w50, as it covers all the temp ranges. Plus the fact that it is what my dad always used in his

just use the cheapest 20w50 u can find...and keep the oil/filter changes regular......hahaha...someone should close this thread before it becomes another debate

syn? or ancient dino oil?

i did cheap halvoline 20w50 and a fram filter drives fine for me

All "Mobil 1" oils are fully synthetic.

10W-40 is crap, never use it in anything

10W-30 is good for RX-7s in all climates
20W-50 is good for RX-7s in warm climates

Mineral (dino) oil changed regularly (3000 miles or less) with a good filter (not Fram -- use Mazda, Purolator, AC Delco, etc.) is appropriate for all but the most extreme uses (racing on tracks).

There are some other good choices, too, but the ones listed above will be fine.

wrong....the 5000 mi. oil is not synthetic

Unless you have a race engine, regular ol' dino juice should be plenty well enough, changed along with filter every 3,000 miles/3 months.

I don't know for sure, but I'd avoid the high mileage oil because it's formulated to resist burning and our engines inject oil into the combustion chamber to lubricate and burn.

ah, so that's what that high mileage stuff does...

There's no need to debate synthetic vs. non-synthetic here 'cause there are plenty of threads on that, probably even an answer in the FAQ (sticky at top).
