High idle, weird noises and other problems

I took the lower intake manifold off to replace the gasket. When i put everything back together and started it, the idle was high (around 1500rpm). While driving at WOT in 3rd gear the car hesitated breifly and then the power came back. My exhaust seems louder than it did befor as does the tubro. Anybody have any ideas?

You know what we're thinking - vac/boost leak after the compressor.

Oh - and congrats on successfully cleaning off the old LIM gasket.

Does it idle that high after the car has completely warmed up?

If so: Have you checked your TPS? (It makes a huge difference in idle spec)

When you put it all back togeather did you somehow tighten the throttle cable? You might check that connection as well..

If you have "checked" for vacuum leaks, and found none did you use carb cleaner to hunt for them or just did a visual inspection?

Some of it very well could be timing. Have you tried to set it? However even if your timing was way off it would either Raise your idle, (NOT as much as you are at) or it would make the car stall. So timing could have some play in the matter.... Not the whole cause though.

What have you tried so far? Everything that has been already sugested here?

What was your TPS at?

Maybe cleaning off that old LIM gasket wasn't so succesful after all? j/k... Just double check step-by-step everything you put back together, paying particular attention to the things that might CAUSE this problem
