high idle running super lean long explanation sorry

alright so 88 turbo 2, converted it all back to stock to pass emissions, started it up and let it warm up it ran great, until i pulled back in my garage.

i looked at my wideband and slow watched my afr's climb to 17.9 then the gauge stopped reading, and the idle was at 1500.

so i shut it down, checked my coolant temp and it was sitting at 204-206 running straight water.

let it cool down and pulled the top mount off and looked at the bac and vacuum rack,
checked to see if there where any leaks anywhere couldnt find anything.

i turned the idle full resistor all the way to rich and ran in the idle screw at the bac all the way in. still super high idle at fully warm and super super lean.

so i pulled the air filter box off and with the car running pushed the maf flapper in so it would read as if it was getting more air and it made it richen up as it should....

so my question is what the hell is wrong with my car haha

the AFR is lean because you have the air pump installed. I would not have touched the variable resistor at that point.

the idle could be high because, for some reason, your fast idle has not come down. do you have your throttlebody coolant hose installed? have you modified the throttlebody at all? I don't think it's possible to get to with a TMIC installed, but you can physically rotate the fast idle thing out of the way with your finger, the one that touches the thermowax. that will drop the idle down.

the water temps seem a little high for a car that just warmed up, but not dangerously so. did you get all the air out of the system? Is the fan clutch good?was it reading this temp while the engine was running, or after you shut it down and it heatsoaked?

Yeah the coolant hose is installed on the tb which hasn't been modded and I checked the water temp after it was shut down like 30secs after. The fan clutch is good. I did notice this morning when I was messing with it the stock radiator has a crack in it about an inch long.

Just kinda weird cause it was running fine until I put the airpump and stock by pass valve back on. And stock air box.

It did how ever still have a 1100 rpm idle until I drove it kinda hard then it would drop to 750-800.

I still need some advice with this. I can't imagine a small crack in the radiator causing it to run this bad.

he just told you why your afr is lean because of your airpump fix your radiator and bleed it properly then see if you have high temps you might have a vacuum leak somewhere what more advice do you need?
