High idle, low top speed, hesitation, what's wrong with my RX-7?
I just went through this with the TPS. First off, DO NOT push that button all the way in. The factory service manual even warns about it.
Once you have your lamps or your multimeters (2) set to volts, you need to plug them into the green plug on passenger side. Your downloaded directions will give you the information. For the mulitmeter, the red leads go into the bottom terminal of that 3 prong green plug and the black from each goes into each of the other 2 terminals. Now you have the mutimeters set. Then adjust the screw to make one mulitmeter read 12v while the other is off. You will find a range where one is off, one on (reading 12v). That's the range you want. Try to stick to the outside of the range instead of the middle. Its a feel thing. Adjust your idle after this. On top of the dynamic chamber, black rubber button covers it. Take that off, to expose screw.
For all of this you have to jumper the Initial set coupler behind the driver's side light. Also a green plug. One prong on the 89+, 2 prong on the 86-88's.
My car was cycling really bad, backfiring a little over 5000rpm and not idling correctly. This finally fixed it. If your TPS won't respond, follow the advice and track one down in a junkyard. I believe the TPS' are different from 86-88 models and 89+ models.

Well... I got a TPS from a junkyard and that disn't fix it.
My dad's friend (the mechanic) told him that there's some kind of gas leak in the motor and compression is being lost. The computer also gets crazy and doesn't do the right stuff.
Sorry if it's hard to understand because the mechanic speaks Vietnamese and my dad told me this in French and I have to translate it in English.
So, what's bad about the car?
Thanx!
