High Boost levels w/no mods
I have a stock engine on a 88 t2, im running stock exhaust, although my mufflers have huge *** holes in them. And I have a cold air box and k&n filter assembly. With a apexi twin chamber bov. I notice my boost levels are hitting around 13/14psi on my autometer boost gauge. And I'm running into Fuel Cut, my question is how am I hitting such high boost levels with hardly any mods? I have on order a cat-back RB exhaust, with there 2.5" DP and Midpipe. I have also ordered a FCD from RB. but im concerned that I may be running too high of boost levels when i install my exhaust. Any input would be nice. thanks

well i think its fuel cut, i dunno my gauge is spiking to 14psi, then my car cuts out and runs like ****. and I have my vacuum line for the gauge spliced into the same line that runs to the boost pressure sensor.

Make sure the hose to your wastegate actuator is on. Also make sure its not stuck.
The only way I can see you making that much boost is if your wastegate isnt opening.
AND DONT GO INTO BOOST WITHOUT AN FCD. 13-14 lbs + fuel cut will kill your engine.

the fuel cut right now is probably saving his engine if the wastegate is stuck closed. Don't throw on a fcd and boost 13-14 pounds on the stock fuel system unless you really have the desire to get a jspec or rebuild your current engine.
the autometer is notoriously not accurate as a boost guage, but I find it hard to believe that it would be that far off. Like already said make sure that the hose is connected between the wastegate actuator and the nipple on the compressor.

Take off your airbox if you dont have a cone filter and look down where the inlet duct goes into the front of the turbo.
There should be a hose coming off a nipple somewhere around the front side there.
Now, follow that hose and it will come to an actuator that looks kina like a bell (sort, kinda) with a thin metal arm that goes to the back of your turbo on the exhaust side. That arm opens your wastegate when that hose reads a certain boost pressure.
(p.s., this is where you will install a manual boost controller if you ever do that)
Anyway, check that hose really good for cracks and holes. More than likely it will be the problem, not the actual actuator.
Anyway, that may or may not be it, but its a good bet.
Let me know if you need anymore help

installed Lowe's boost controller...hit fuel cut when i speed shift cause of boost spike. and i recently turned the controller off and i still hit fuel cut. guess i have a leak in the tubing...anyway
just for info, my 88 T2 fuel cuts at about 350mmHg whatever boost that is. so i disconnected my boost sensor and then...no more fuel cut. the only negative i saw was that i was running rich unless i was deccelerating. since then, i've plugged it back up and i'm going to install the FCD tomorrow. my .02.

uhm... not a wise thing to do. The boost sensor is there for a reason. Your ECU will assume 5.5 psi at all times, making you run too rich unless you are over 5.5 psi, and then you will lean out more than if you were at 8 psi.
I understand the whole testing, but be careful. I blew my engine at 7 psi...
