1- depends turbo or na? turbo is about 210 i think na is about 160
2- leave it, mod it whatever you do keep it rotary, perhaps a 3 rotor...
3- yes se the base, gtu base with some stuff, gtus base with sunroof i think, gxl leather ect, and turbo
4- bad coolant seals number one and then bad oil seals and low compression, check the faq for that info
congrats on the possibility of getting one theyer fun

non turbos have around 140 hp stock and turbos have around 186 stock, depending on what year and how ragged out its been driven... best engine to swap into an rx7 if you have a non turbo is a 13bt, wich is the turbo motor for the rx7...its cheap and a dime a dozen, or you could always do the ls1, lt1, small block chevy swap if youve got the cash or parts. yes there are lots of different models. make sure the rx7 doesnt smoke too bad. naturally all rx7's burn oil and smoke just a tad bit especially when romping on the throttle becuase they inject oil into the mixture to pre-lube the apex seals. just make sure it doesnt smoke like a fog machine and if it smokes and smells sweet like coolant... stay away from it, it has a blown coolant seal. the non turbo transmissions arent known to be that great so if it is a non turbo drive it, and drive it hard and make sure none of the gears grind.
if your going to get an rx7, might as well try and find a turbo 2 (Tll) rx7 becuase it will save you time, money, and headache in the long run, and you can find a relatively decent shape turbo car around town, in autotrader, and especailly on ebay for around 2 to 3 grand all the way up to 7 grand for a prestine shape rx7 turbo with low miles. anyway... theres a hell of a lot more to know about these cars i suggest looking in the FAQ section on second gens to learn more

Good luck finding a 92, I even find it hard to believe that your friend has a 92. Anyways, try to find yourself a nice 90/91 turbo... Those seem to be in better shape than the earlier ones. The reason I say turbo, is because the n/a's are pigs and unless you do a rebuild and go into a bunch of ****, you wont get any excitement from driving it. Well thats IMHO so take it as you want...
The later model years for the turbo, are the most expensive, but like stated earlier, if you dont want to worry about having to swap motors and this and that, then that year is your best bet..
