hi guys!

hey guys! my name is allen and i am new to the forum. i just got a 1987 turbo fc and i thought i would introduce myself. i am a noob, but i am always trying to learn some new stuff so sorry if i sound stupid on the forums. so yea. i have a couple questions that i need help with so hopefully you guys can help me out.

1. when i start my engine... it tends to not start at all. i have to start it in a certain way. like press the clutch all the way in before putting the key in the ignition and then turn it to on for a lil bit and then try starting it. and even then it doesnt start all the time. i would have to try it a few times before it would start. i know that my uncle did something like that to one of his cars as a security precaution but i dunno if it was done to my car too. would you guys happen to know what the problem is? and if you do... would you know how to put it back to the stock set up?

2. i have an jdm turbo II S5 13 b engine swapped into my 87 fc. i have an hks intake, an hks downpipe and a 3" cat back with an after market muffler (which i am not sure about cause it was already on there wen i got it) and i was wondering if you guys had any recommendations for a high performance quite muffler. oh yea and it is running through a single muffler not duals. so any suggestions on a quieter muffler? the reason why i ask is because around my area, the cops are really strict with the sounds of exhausts so i need a new muffler. or any other suggestions to get it a little quiter without too much loss in performance?

3. when i got the car i found out that the short shifter in there is really stiff and the set up is weird. like instead of moving the stick left and up for first, first is straight up already and everything is moved over to the right from there. i am not sure wat type of short shifter it is but i was wondering if anyone would like to trade me with a normal shift box. so anyone want to trade? the thing is i dunt know how to uninstall it so yea. a lil problem there. but i am still willing to trade and help out with the unistall and install. so let me know.

thanks again in advance guys.

All second gen rx-7's are equipped with an interlock to bypass the starter circuit unless the clutch pedal is pressed in.

For your muffler problem, if you want a quiet exhaust, go with a racing beat catback, it's the quietest aftermarket exhaust that flows well. If you can't afford it, then get a presilencer from racing beat or borla (xr-1) and weld it in.

The shifter is held in by 3 bolts. You just have to take apart the shifter boot and remove it.

Chances are that your bushings are worn.
www.mazdatrix.com will sell you all new bushings and it will make worlds of difference.

The shifter problem sounds to me like one of the centering springs might be bad.
