Hey i have a 90 rx-7 gxl and im wondering

im wondering why my car accelerates all the way to 9k rpms but when im on the road and try to go over 6k rpms the car hesitates and over get over the 6krpms but sometimes it does so im guessing is a bad fuel pump, or a bad fuel pressure regulator, please let me know what you guys think, what should be the appropiate fuel pressure on this car so that i can run a test and find out, thanks

Friend and I were playing around in a parking lot once, early morning (~3am) right after it rained, in my 90 GXL... we hit 9k in neutral on accident a few times and nothing really happened. Not saying everyone should go out and rev to 9k, just saying that hitting it once or twice for a second or two until you realize how high it is will most likely not cause permanent damage.

Again, your results may vary.

If your car doesn't want to rev past 6k, and slowly revs past ~5k, check both the 6ports and the VDI... my ports got stuck once but the engine didn't start to really choke until about 5.5k.

are you topping out each gear? gears have ratios, and can only spin so fast

yea i accelerate just once all the way to 9k on neutral , i have fresh oil 20w50 and fresh spark plugs and wires but like i sais when im on the road it will hesitate to get over 6k rpms then suddenly gets over the 6k rpms i think is a bad fuel pressure regulator
