hesitation question that the FAQ didnt answer
ok, i have the money in hand to buy an 87 SE NA tommorow. it starts and idles great but above 4k there is a tremendous hesitation and surge that makes it insane to drive. it does have a bad batt, and the dude has some extra stereo equip in (like a single 12 on 600watts i believe), but for a 145k car, other than the hesitation, it drives superb. since its an NA, and almost every thread ive read on the hesitations were turbo related do you think it would more than likely be a grounding problem, also, the motor runs cool as ice, not an inkling of overheating, if that has anything to do with it.
id just like to know if itd be an easy problem to fix cheaply for the $2700 im gonna pay for the car. bodys in great shape for age, and was gonna repaint OEM white anyway.
secondly, i have plenty (and planned on) buying an TII motor and doing the swap.
1) is it hard?/expensive/possible??
2) will it mate to the existing M5 tranny? (drivetrain is in GREAT shape)
thanks alot, i can always count on you!

Offer the guy $500 or walk away...
That is is NOT worth FULL BLUE BOOK VALUE if it doesn't drive perfectly.

Some people are going to tell you the KBB numbers are wrong, but this is what the general public uses and FC fanatics will always have twisted views on what proper value is.
Mind you, you're looking at a base model.
After buying a base model, you'll be coming back asking for big brake upgrades (i.e. 5-lug conversion) and possibly a turbo motor.
The car isn't worth that much.
Finding a GXL is a better value, and maybe worth what this idiot is asking for.
