Hesitation fixed! Broke this morning!

Okay...So on Friday I replaced my fuel filter...I knew it needed to be done. Well. after about 5 minutes of driving I realized that the car didn't hesitate at mid RPM any more. So, I drove it pretty heavy just to feel how she opened up and it was beautiful! Until this morning... I was on my way to work and the bitch did it again the whole way here. Well, I remember my Mustang having the same problem...it kept on clogging my fuel filters and driving like ****! I replaced the old nasty gas tank! That was that...

Would it be wise to purchase some kind of solvent to clean my tank with this weekend? Or is it a better idea to just replace it!?!? At least I know what it is!

You could pop the fuel pump asmy. out and take a look inside the tank and see how skanky it is in there.

You could also drain the gas tank to see if that helps clear the junk out of it.

Have you ran any type of injector cleaner through it yet? How about cleaning the pickup filter in the gas tank? I suppose you've done the basic hesitation fixes (adjust TPS, make sure the TPS isn't bad, extra grounds, etc)

As a matter of fact I tested the TPS, it was fine...No injector cleaner...I suppose I haven't because if there is crap in there I don't want the Injector Cleaner to free it up to move through the lines...Bad past experience.

I have not added extra grounds yet, I don't think I need to...I said the problem was fixed upon installing the fuel filter...meaning, the fuel lines are the problem. I am not going to throw hours of nonsense into this car if the problem is caused elsewhere... Joo No Meng? I will prolly open the tank today and feel around in there...I have a feeling it is going to be NASTY!

Okay...The Fuel filter is located to the left of the Trailing Coil. There will be two fuel lines coming out of the engine on the drivers side. Follow one(It may lead to the firewall.) Follow the other to a black canister...there are two 10mm bolts mounting the bracket to the side wall...once the lines are removed from the filter install a new one...Simple as that. A New Fuel Filter cost's 20-25 dollars depending on who you go to. I got mine at Vato Zone for 22.50.

Even if you let the car sit overnight it should still hold pressure...What I do is not care that a little bit of gas gets dumped... Take the gas cap off...disconnect the line coming OUT of the filter. Take a gas can and let it dump until it stops... Once the pressure is relieved you can safely work without soaking yourself in gas. Once the new filter is installed cycle the key about 10-15 times...this means... Turn key to ON and then wait 6 seconds then turn key off... Do not try to start ther car, since there will be no fuel in the lines...

Or, you could have the car idle. Then pull the egi fuse and let the car die from fuel starvation. That will help drain out the lines so you don't spray fuel.

I've said this before, but now is also a good time to do a fuel filter location "mod"...Get about 2 1/2 feet of new hi-pressure fuel injection hose, and install it between the hard line at the bottom of the chassis & the new filter- this moves the filter up into the engine bay for easy accessibility, and prevents the fuel dropping in your eyes, running down your arms, etc like it does from the OEM location...You also won't get the annoying dripping when disconnecting the lines from the filter, since it will be above the level of the tank now...Keep the new fuel line run away from the steering shaft & anything else that might chafe it (I got mine tie-wrapped to the frame rail)...Happy filtering
