Heres whats going on I need help soon

Ok, I got water in my intake, let it dry pulled the plugs spun it over for a good 5-6 mins to make sure everything was out. My MAF had a puddle of water going through it about 1 inch from the bottom of my air filter. I blew out the MAF and sprayed MAF cleaner through it and let it dry for a day. I then got new plugs and new air filter. Put the filter and plugs in today, turn it over and it started but died. So I had my little bro turn the key for me and it took about 10-15 trys like that before it would start on its own. After we got it to start I would jump on it and it would rev to 8k and then die. Yes I know reving a cold rotary is bad but I was trying to get it cleaned out. I then tried to just start it and let it idle.. It would idle for maybe 5 seconds then shut off. I also tried spraying carb cleaner in the TB to get it to clean it out, it actually didnt help any which gives me a feeling its the AFM since it had a puddle of water going through it. I dont want to spend $180 for a new one unless I know thats what it is. If anyone has a old one that is still good that they could sell me cheap PM me. Also I thought about getting one from the jyard but only have a s5 out there. Is there a way to rewire the s5 one to s4? If I know for a fact that it is the AFM I will be willing to buy a new one.

Might be the afm and then maybe not. You might have water in that or some other electrical connector, creating a temporary short or ground that the ECU is seeing rather than the valid signal.

1) could you have water in your fuel filter?
2) check for trouble codes. You can make a 2 led code checker for about $3. See the writeup on teamfc3s.org
3) pull up the carpet on the right side. Remove the kickplate, and get access to the ECU and its connectors. Use a paperclip and a voltmeter to backprobe each pin on the three ecu connectors. Do this with the ignition on, but engine not running. There is a table in ch4 of the online FSM that details the voltage you should see at each pin in that condition (and also at idle, once you get that far.) If the AFM or the wiring to it is at fault, you should see a voltage on its pin other than that specified in the manual. The same is true for all other sensors.

I dont think I have fuel in my fuel filter. I will pull it off and check though.

I went to the website above and its says for troubleshooting/FAQs the link is broken, If anyone knows how to do that id greatly appreciate it instead of me having to search and search some more even though thats how you learn,
