standard questions:

1) Last full tuneup was when?
2) How many miles are on your inectors. Have they ever been professionall cleaned & blueprinted.
3) Do you normally have problems with flooding (hotstarts)? Do you have to pull the EGI fuse to engague fuel cut, reinstall the fuse, and it cranks fine?

This has been covered MANY MANY MANY times. Do a search.

pablo escobar,

This has also been covered MANY MANY times and can be found by search for flooding, hot start, etc..

The 1989-1991 rx-7s have a built in fuel cut to overcome flooding. Press the gaspedal to the floor & crank.

If your car starts fine after you imediatly turn it off, won't start in a 5-60 minuet window, and then starts fine after that you need to have your injectors cleaned & blueprinted. The injectors will leak off the fuel line pressure after you shut the car off and cause a rich air/fuel mixture in the engine (minor flooding).

My 1989 Convertible doesn't flood with 125K miles on the injectors, but my 1991 Turbo II floods slightly in a 5-65 minuet window and then starts without the need for the gaspedal fuel cut.

TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) may need adjusting.

in his defense it is hard to search for something if you don't have any idea what it is.

I've never figured out if the warmup surging is a sticky wax thermo pellet, TPS, or slightly opened throttle plate.
