Help with tie rod end

Trying to remove it from the steering knuckle connected to the brake disc and for the life of me I can t get the damn two jaw puller to stay on long enough or at the right angle in order to get it removed. Is there another method to do it? please please please. This is driving me crazy. starting to regret buying the puller.

i never use the puller. i loosen the nut to where it's just at the top of the ball joint threaded rod (so i dont mess up the threads)
then i take about a 5lb. hammer and hit it.
once you get experienced, one good hit will pop it right out. i never use the puller because you put your ball joint boots at risk of being torn.

I was so so glad you said that because that ominous thought was looming in my head and Im thinking to myself, do I really want to jack this thing up? lol. What if the boot is already pretty beat up? Do auto parts places carry that type of stuff at all? Thanks for the help man I really really appreciate it.
