Help with sunroof.
Well,I tried to open her up today and all I hear is the motor.Last year I did Have to help it go up by pushing it some. Now I can hear it moving whe I hit the switch in either direction but I get no movement.I took off the cover on the back(inside car) and tried to get it to move with the right tool but I couldnt get it to budge.Any ideas?
actually, most people recommend using a real lube grease instead of WD... Although great at just about everything, most people who use WD for their sunroofs just end up redoing the entire system in a few weeks after dirt/dust/etc builds up on the WD..
Our cars came with a crank, you remove the little round trim piece whichs sits behind the sunroof on the inside roof. You have to manually crank it open. If u dont have the crank u can jst use a socket or sumthing. Sometimes crankin it back in forth manually and wd40in it will get in workin by itself again.
My 88 SE was totally stuck when I first got it.
I removed the whole assembly from the car and used the crank to open it. I then cleaned the **** out of it and used REAL grease not WD-40.
WD is useless for somehting like this. It is more of a solvent than a lubricant.

assuming want = won't the track might be fucked up, b/c if the rollers are still on the track properly, there's no way for one side to only pop up. That or maybe your crank hole is damaged internally somewhere. sorry im not too specific, hope it helps anyway.

try hitting the open button while pushing the backside of the roof up
once popped up, make sure that there is nothing in the track and then apply your grease, lube, whatever...
once it is at the open angle, keep holding the open button and push the roof back as if it were sliding back...
try working it back and forth and it should be OK...hopefully nothing is broken....that's what I ended up having to do when mine broke.
