Help with starter

My car was working fine. Today I go and start it up and I heard a single poping sound, like a fuse blew. The car would not crank and the fuses are good. I can hear a clicking sound everytime I turn the ignition on.

So my starter solenoid is good but my starter motor is blown?

this happened to me when i was dicking with the main fuse..

i was scared shitless that i fucked something major up, but anyways i disconnected the battery, changed the main fuse (which was still INTACT mind you, but still didnt put out enough juice.. i guess)

so im not sure if it was a bad battery connection, or the fuse was visibly intact but still ruined..

anyways.. disconnected battery, changed fuse, reconnected battery - fired right up.

we have this problem with the pup motors on the hydraulic trailers at work - 80% of the time due to bad connections on the battery, or the sometimes connections at the starter.

Check the wire at the starter, it may be loose

You are checking the underhood fuses, not the main fuse box in the drivers compartment, right?

Ya, main fuses but I also checked the other fuses too, all good. I took the starter out applied voltage to the solenoid. The solenoid clicked over. I applied voltage to just the two motor connections without the solenoid connected but the motor did not turn (I think the solenoid must be on before the motor can turn). Is this true?
