S5 ECU pin differences NA vs. Turbo
**********************************

2M: NA - VDI Solenoid, Turbo - Knock Sensor

3R: NA - 6PI Solenoid, Turbo - Turbo duty Solenoid

Get a copy of the S5 wiring diagrams and check out the differences. You can really live without the knock sensor since it only adjusts timing AFTER you get a knock. The turbo duty solenoid can be replaced with an emissions solenoid. I'm not sure which type (2 types of solenoids, one is ON with 12V power, one is OFF with 12V power).

thanks rotoryrocket, well this may be dumb but where is the turbo duty solenoid located at? the motor has no emissions or turbo duty solenoid, hence that why my car runs like **** at the moment. also does anyone have a image of it (turbo duty solenoid)? thanks again.

Page F2-7 of the S5 FSM Fuel and Emissions section shows the routing. I attached it for you. You can see that the turbo duty solenoid is just a boost controller that vents off pressure going to the wastegate actuator. This lets you boost to 7.5 PSI instead of the 5.5 PSI that the wastegate spring is set for. The ECU applies a ground to the solenoid to open it, so you want to use a solenoid that is ON with 12V power. The VDI or 6PI solenoids will work perfectly for this (an EGR solenoid from a S4 or earlier will work too). You can buy them on ebay for about $10, just search for emissions solenoids.
