Help! Reviving a Dead 87'
Hello,
I recently purchased a 1987 RX7 GXL (Non-turbo).
It has 125xxx miles and was said to have been
in good running condition.
The one problem that it did have, was that it
needed the Water pump & Housing replaced.
I did that and:
All Filters, Plugs, Wires, Thermostat, Belts,
Battery, Brakes, Radiator Flush and a Complete
fluids change.
Is there anything I should know about (or replace)
before attempting the start the engine? I'm not
familar with rotarty engines, and their ability to sit
for long periods of time (1.5 - 2 years).
I was afraid rust had formed and would damage
the seals. Is there a procedure for correcting this,
or is it not an issue.
If you have any suggestions or tips on my new, old
car please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Chris Barger

Throw a bit of oil in the combustion chamber, use a 19mm socket and turn the motor over by hand a few times. Pull out the 2 fuses closet to the engine in the under hood fuse box. Crank it until there is oil pressure. Throw fuses back in and start it.

what dr0x said will definatly help you out. Get some oil in the combustion chambers. You might want to let it sit a day (or at least overnight) and then crank till you have oil pressure, THEN start the engine. Be gentle on the car for the first few days, and always when it's cold.
You also might want to have a spare set of spark plugs onhand, chances are good you'll foul the first set. At least have some sandpaper and a rag so you can clean 'em

welcome to the club!!
First, go to your auto parts store and get a Haynes auto repair manual for 86-88 rx7. READ the hell out of it. You will learn a lot about the differences that come with a RX7. Also, someone on here has a page that they put together for new 7 owners....I think it might have been Aaron Cake but not sure....anyone help me out here??
