Help...Ran low on oil...Who has done this? (Batman)

Yes...2nd gen GXL. From the L to the F is 1 quart. I seem to have been just barely touching the end of the dip stick. I would guess that I was 2 quarts low on oil.

Please I dont want any .....thats not good or check it more often because I know. It cought me on surprise. Seems the harder I drive the more oil gets squirted into the engine.

I know someone has done this before. I want to know If I DID ANY DAMAGE OR NOT. Please thnx.

Also whats the effect of driving with the oil metering vacume line not hooked up for say a couple of hours or so???

Oil metering lines not connected should have no ill effects. It just means the oil injectors were pulling unfiltered air into your rotars for whatever period of time it was that they were off(vac lines). Like running without an air filter except on a much smaller scale. Not good but its not going to kill your car for the short period of time you ran it like that.

Dont worry about it unless you Auto_x it like htat or something.

I've done it liek 2 times before I noticed (I heard the oil lever buzzer beep whne turning).

Like I said unless you pushed you car hard its not a big deal if it was like that for a short time.

Any damage done would have been noticabel already.

OHH BTW, Check it more often

running low on oil destroyed batmans turbos more than anything. Lesson #1. Always carry at least one quart of oil with you in the car at all times. Lesson #2. Check the oil in the engine at least once a week. Lesson #3. Dont continue to drive hard when the oil buzzer starts screaming.

i drove for a week with the oil buzzer going on and off because i thought it was the coolant buzzer, makes the same damn annoying sound, so for that whole week i rewired the water level sensor, and put a new one in it, and only one day did i actually look at the idiot lights and see it was oil, oops, still runs good (thank god)

Well, look at it like this. If you did damange there is NOTHING you can do about it. So, fill it back up and maybe change the oil.

I had the oil buzzer go off once in my first motor like 5 years ago...I beat the **** outta the car for the first 2K I had it and had no idea that these cars need more TLC, it took 2.5 quarts that day!! I also redlined that motor ALL the time when coolant temps were dead cold - probably why I only got 20K outta it

Try one quart...
I (used to) usually wait until my LOW OIL buzzer sounded, and I knew I was down one quart of oil.&nbsp One quart fill and it was back up to "F".&nbsp I run a Racing Beat oil pan baffle, so this tended to surpress the warning a bit more than "stock" FC's.&nbsp Did the LOW OIL light/buzzer go off?!?!?!?&nbsp I put in "(used to)" cause I yanked the oil metering system and run pre-mix now.

Uh, why were you doing that?&nbsp You're not racing at high RPM, so I doubt you did any damage...

This is not a peformance mod - it's purely for reliability.
