Help! Problem with clutch/tranny, car shifts hard into gear.

OK the other day I was pulling into my friends driveway going like ~20 so I put my foot on the break as I turn in and downshift from 2nd to 1st. As I push the stick into first I got the "bzzzzzzz cant find them grind them" noise and the stick like shot back and jolted my hand. As I was driving down the road I noticed it was becoming harder and harder to shift and the clutch pedal had lost most of its resistance. I pulled over and found that I couldn't even put the car into any gear, it just wouldnt budge. After waiting a while I ve managed to get it into gear a few times but its completely random on if it will go in/come out easily or even at all. The tranny and clutch fluid are full. Any ideas on what happened? I really hope I didn't blow the tranny cause I am broke right now. Oh yeah clutch is brand new ACT stage 2 with 3500 miles on it.

Have you checked out your clutch hydraulic system? You may need a new master or slave cylinder.

I don't really know much about clutches or how the master or slave cylinder work. How do I check?

That, I don't have a good answer for and I'd rather not give a poor one. Maybe someone else will chime in here.

Anyone out there that can give me a run down on how to troubleshoot my problem? I really would like to set my mind at ease and not worry that my whole tranny is shot.

and the clutch pedal had lost most of its resistance.
This indicates either a dead master or slave cylinder. If it was the gearbox, your pedal would be fine. My bet is the slave cylinder seals. Go have a look at the slave cylinder (on the top of the gearbox, just behind the oil filter). See if you can remove the rubber boot from around its housing (push it down towards the back of the car), get someone to press the clutch and check for fluid leaking around the rod (thats hidden by the boot). If its leaking you can have it rebuilt or replaced, both fairly cheaply.

If its not that, then its either a leak in the master cylinder on the firewall or the (stock) rubber hydrolic line running from the metal pipe on the firewall to the slave cylinder.
