My 86 gxl will start up and idle fine
but as soon as i push on the gas it sporatically revs up and never gets past about 1500 rpms
it doesnt do this all the time though sometimes it will go like it should


any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Most likely a dead spot in the tps. You need to ohm it out per the manual. Not set the tps, but ohm it out looking for dead spots. Comprende? i.e. the tps might be toast.

 

Thats what happened to mines when I would crank it I would be able to rev it to a certain RPM then it would die.I thought my porting job had screwed everything up.
