Help Please. Idle Problem
I Have A 87 With A Atkins Rebuilt Engine. Had Problems Getting The Lead Coil To Fire. Got A New Ecm And Coil Pack. Also Replaced The Fuel Pump And Fuel Filter. New Plugs. Also The Distrubed Looking Thing Replaced. Start Now. But.
The Car Starts Up Does Its Warm Up For Acouble Secs Then Stumbles Then Dies. The Car Will Run If You Keep On The Throttle. You Can Drive It To But It Runs Rough. It Also Back Fires Some Times Too. The Car Runs Good Around 2000 Rpms. I Dont Hear Any Vacuum Leaks, Cant Find Any Grounds Unplug. I Need Some Help I Have To Much Money In The Car. Thanks Chris

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Vac leak, check by spraying automotive starting fluid (while the engine is running) around the intake... when you find the leak the starting fluid will make the RPMs go up.

Follow ^, vacuum leaks, and then re-stab CAS (crank angle sensor). Makes sense because you would have had to remove it at one point to rebuild engine.
To re-stab CAS, rotate the engine (ign. off) slowly clockwise with a ratchet and socket on the alternator pulley nut. Do this until the leading mark (first of two close marks you see as you turn engine) on the eccentric shaft pulley is aligned with the front cover needle. Pull out CAS after taking out the adjusting nut near the top. Rotate gear at the bottom of CAS until the punch mark on it aligns with the pointer on the CAS's aluminum shaft. Re-insert CAS with it near the center of the adjustment nut thread on the front cover. Check timing. I may have missed something, so look in my sig for the links to the FSM.
