get a ride... have you even tried to start it since you overheated it? often times they are too low compression to start without push starting if they've been overheated good enough (usually the case if you don't see it going and shut it off)

when the engine's hot the clutch fan will.. ya know.... suck a whole lot of air... if it starts fine, without any smoke in the exhaust, and you don't get bubbles in the coolant system, you may be lucky and your seals may be fine. If it does smoke alittle on startup (then goes away) but moreso if it's been sitting longer then your coolant seals are prolly shot, and if so... does the smoke smell sweet=coolant?

do you have trouble hot starting? like if you let it sit for about 30 minutes? If there was alot of coolant in your overfill tank than that is not a good thing and your coolant seals could of gone which means rebuild. also, let the car sit for a few hours and check your overfill and rad for oil spots in the coolant.

Please see http://www.aaroncake.net/rx-7/cooling.htm for cooling system troubleshooting.
You may or may not have damaged the engine. Sometimes they aren't hurt, sometimes they die. At this point, best to do a cooling system pressure test (most mechanics will perform this for a modest fee).
As for the temp gauge, most likely the connection is bad at the sender. Check the wiring (coolant sensor location is in the factory/Haynes service manual).
You should not drive your car if it is overheating.
As for the low oil, top it up. Then make a habit to check it everytime you fill up with gas.
