Exclamation Help: Odd noise while idling

After a few seconds, maybe 20 or so, while idling with the clutch in, and in gear, I hear this kind of scraping sound for about a second, then it goes away. Seems to come from tranny area. Clutch is good, no increace in revs or chattering. Any ideas?

In reply to the original question, it could be a slight vibration from the engine thats causing your heat shields or something to vibrate, wich can sound like metal scraping. An audio clip would be great btw.

just go pick up a pint of blinker fluid, cleared up my chattering muffler bearings pretty good...

make sure you take the blinker fluid drain bolt out with an open ended box wrench

i bet its your throwout bearing, it probably isnt spinning freely and is scraping on the pressure plate, ive had hte same thing happen. Replace it!

pilot bearing will spin while the clutch is engaged,
throwbout bearing will spin while the clutch is disengaged...

eh?

the pilot bearing doesnt speed on load clutch disengaged (you'removing) because the flywheel's rotational speed is the same as the tranny's input shaft's rotational speed
