Help-Newer Idle Problems

I've been having some idle and power problems recently.

Symptoms:

1. Cold start works fine, but recently the idle drops to zero, then stalls out.

2. When car is sitting there idling high, I put it into gear and idle drops to 500 RPMs. When it is taken out of gear it shoots right back up to 2500 RPMs.

3. When car is running and idle eventually balances out, it bounces from 1500 RPMs to 500 RPMs.

4. Power while accelerating is really bad. Sometimes I will get bursts of decent, but not the norm, power, then I will feel like driving my friends 3 cyl Geo Metro.

Can anyone lend their help to this problem I am having. I have removed air pump to check gaskets and vacuum leaks, but found none. Thank you.

Have you done a compression check? How about clogged cats?

I had the same problem. A little plug near the therostat came lose. I forget what its called but its what automatically adjust your Idle when the power steering, a/c etc is engauged. Its by where the rats nest / ACV area is. look for a loose little plug. I think it goes to the BAC valve. check this http://home.rmci.net/panther/idle.htm

Ill have to try the little thing, but i plan on completly taking apart my air pump this weekend. And it wouldn't be my clogged cats as iim running mostly straight pipes.
