Question Blown wiper switch ?

I tried to fix my wiper switch cause it didn't work well. I did the test to know if it was the common relay failure.

http://2ndgenrx7.freeservers.com/techmaster.html (relay #3)

During the test I accidently did a shortcut in the area of the relay and then some smoke apeared

And now when I turn ignition switch to on, wipers are always working. They never stop even if the wiper switch is set to OFF.

How to know if it's only the relay that is blown or the whole wiper switch ?

Thanks

Alex

Probably blew a transistor or a trace.

I have rebuilt dual (front and rear) wiper switches available, PM or email me if you need the link to my web page.

what is a trace ?

The relay that was on the wiper switch has already been changed less than one year ago so I would like to keep it, if it's not blown. If it's impossible that the relay smoked it should still be good ? So if I buy another switch at the junk yard I will be able to re-use it ?

Thanks a lot

Alex

A trace is the metal that is laid down on the circuit board. It conducts the electricity between the electronics of the board.

Hard to say what is blown on the switch without seeing it. The realy should be able to be re-used but at only $10-$12 each, why would you?
